Seal your Trashcans & Recycling Bins

Stop The Rats will attach strong metal mesh to patch all of the holes in your trashcan or recycling bin to prevent rats from getting in and eating food on the day after the trash pickup. Almost all holes can be patched, whether they are on the top, back, sides or bottom of the cans! Further, most cracks can be repaired. Rats will go away when they no longer have access to food.

Can or Bin repair is $20/can, ($22/can for large or commercial grade cans). Service is available in DC neighborhoods. We will come and repair them within a month of receiving your order. If you indicate your cans are locked up, we will notify you 24 hours before we're coming and ask you to put them out, or come on a trash pickup day to repair them.

We'll invoice you after we make repairs. Please don't overfill your cans, ensure they stay sealed when not in use and that the lid closes tight! Thank you for helping us keep the rat populations as low as possible!

Please share this with your neighbors.

Coming soon - Repair kits to Do It Yourself!

We will attempt to notify you via text or email before we come.

By signing up for Stop The Rats repair service, you give Stop the Rats permission to come in and work on the cans anytime between 8am and 7pm daily unless you've indicated that the cans are in a locked location and you have not provided a code to access them.

Please let all of your living partners know that you've signed up for this service, we've shown up to work on cans and surprised other residents who didn't know we were coming.

We can't name which day we will be able to come, and we'll be more incentivised to come sooner if you get your neighbors on board to get their cans repaired so that we can fix many cans at the same stop.
